Inspiration

As the quarter rolls on, I find myself in a weird valley looking up at the giant mountain that is my special topics. I've become rather bored with what I'm doing, as I do with just about anything I do for a prolonged period of time, and although I want to climb this mountain, for now I think I'll lay here in this quiet valley and stress out over nothing. At a time like this when crisis strikes, there's nothing left to do but search for creative inspiration. And so today for about 2 hours I searched through after effects tutorials, artistic animations, robotic animations and awesome music videos that utilize after effects. As I'm sulking in my valley and watching these videos that reside at the top of the mountain, I think to myself "Oh that's easy" or "I could do that" but then another part of myself says "fuckin do it, man". So in hopes of finding some motivation I'm writing this blog to get my thoughts off my shoulders.

In this video I learn why social media is bad and how abstract animations can relate to something so real. It was made by a dude that has a bunch of tutorials on Lynda.com. Dude = Shimi Cohen. He came up with a solution that combines a simple graphic language, which was also clear, and memorable. He managed to illustrate the narrative concept and backed it up with a clever animation style

This next video made me want to eat LSD and listen to music with my eyes closed. I liked this video so much I dug deeper and looked up who made it and if there were any tutorials. I found out it was made for Adult Swim, which is a late-night-experimental-weirdo-trippy-guy program on cartoon network. The mastermind and director behind this video and many other creepster-esque videos is a guy who calls himself lilfuchs, which I think is short for little fucks, which is cool. Check out his website here. I found out Lilfuchs works with Dino Fritz and Sam Layja, and together they all make up Turner Studios.

The next video I thoroughly enjoy. It's Diplo and Skrillex's song called Jack Ü. The animation is so fun. I definitely want to make something like this.
