1st quarter I want to explore After Effects, I want to understand the intricacies, get the shortcuts down, and learn techniques from the masters on youtube and lynda.

2nd quarter I want to make something awesome... not sure what yet.

Week 1

Share Ideas and get feedback from the crew. Sifting through my ideas out loud really helped to decide what I don't want to do.

Week 2

Locate/watch tutorials. I decided to become a member of Lynda.com. The website has an entire Ae course laid out and that makes things really easy because the course is laid out in steps. Today, 9-30-2014, I got through the first two chapters of the course: Introduction and The Fundamentals of After Effects.

Week 3

Watch Tutorials/ Make magic. Watch two more sections of Lynda.com: I made an edit using the pen tool and utilizing keyframes. you can view that here View post. Its not much but It did take me long time. and i figured alot of techniques/ dos and do nots.

Week 4

More Tutorials/ More Magic. I'm learning more and more and getting more inspired by some great videos. I watched alot of video inspirations and alot of tutorials inside lynda and other great tutorials on youtube and vimeo. check this post

Week 5

Animate some stuff. Music Video project of animated words, I'm starting with the intro of the song chug a lug and I will use masks to animate a few words. After that i will just freestyle with some techniques that I have learned. I took some timelapses with my phone and I'll be animating text over that video.

Week 7

My video has taken a turn. I found a photo of Roger Miller from 1967. I tried a new workflow within after effects, it goes like this. Start in photoshop mask out Roger from his background. Link the photoshop document into after effects. I found that I can easily go from photoshop and after effects and the changes happen instantly.

Choosing my own project has been one of the hardest decisions. There's so much I want to learn and explore. When the possibilities are endless I tend to get lost in the black whole of ideas. But I need to make a choice so I've decided I'm going to spend this quarter learning Adobe After Effects, a very powerful video tool.
