Video Terminology

CODEC

-stands for compress/decompress. There are many different codecs when working with video. There are many different codecs, these are the common ones:

  • H.264, MPEG-4, Part 10 or AVC (Advanced Video Coding) is currently one of the most commonly used formats for the recording, compression, playback of high definition video.
  • VP8 is google's version of MPEG4.
  • Lossless is the raw video and best quality is great if your computer can handle it.

CHANNEL

-every image/video is made up of channels

  • Red channel, Blue channel, Green channel make up color in screens known as RGB

MATTE
